About the scan
How the free scan works
Nothing leaves your browser. The text you paste is analysed locally by the same engine the editor uses, and it disappears when you close the page — no account, no email, no file stored on the server.
The engine runs two passes. The first checks structure: are the section headings standard, is the contact block real text rather than an image, are there so many columns that reading order breaks? The second checks content: length, measurable results, keyword repetition, and whether each experience bullet opens with a strong verb.
What an ATS actually measures
Applicant tracking systems are not AI that understands meaning — they are extraction software. They read the file, flatten it to text, then try to fill fields: name, phone, email, job title, employers, dates, certifications. Anything it cannot map to a field is dropped, and a recruiter may never see it.
So the most common failure is not weak writing, it is structure that cannot be parsed: complex tables, text inside images, contact details in a page header, or inventive section names like “My Journey” instead of “Work Experience”. The system does not guess.
- Use one standard heading per section: Experience, Education, Skills, Languages.
- Keep contact details as text at the top of page one, not in a page header.
- Avoid tables, text boxes and multi-column layouts in the ATS version.
- Add keywords in the exact form the job posting uses.
What to do with your score
The number is not a verdict on your CV as a document — it is a read on how machine-readable it is. A visually excellent CV can score low because it was designed for print rather than for automated screening. Start with the unlocked issues: each one names a specific, fixable problem.
Fix in this order: contact details first, because losing them loses you entirely; then section headings; then keywords; then numbers and results. Repairing structure moves the score more than rewriting sentences.
What this free scan does not cover
The free scan reads the text you paste, not your original file. It cannot detect formatting problems inside a PDF or Word document: unembedded fonts, embedded images, hidden tables, or reversed reading order in an Arabic file with broken direction. It also does not compare your CV against a specific job posting — that needs the posting text.
For full coverage, export from the editor in the ATS format (a real text layer, no images) and paste the result here. The two together give you what no text-only scan can.
